Campus Cutie & Music Lover

Facebook stalking
Zach James Allott is returning to Media Power Tools for yet another interview.  This time, at the end of the winter season.  Although I'm sure he has much to say about his past season, I'm not here to talk to him about snowboarding.

Via Facebook
Zach James Allott is my personal blogger.com mentor, and could tell me anything I could ever want to know about posting blogs, getting statistics, and answered any and all question I had about blogger (hence why I now know how to embed videos in my blog posts).  Why does he know all this you may ask?  Well, the answer is simple.

Zach James Allott IS what they call, All Over Music.  With 14,000+ hits, I guess you could say he's kinda a big deal...

Hi Zach!
Well good afternoon Austin!

How you doing good Sir?
Wonderful, albeit I'm broke as fuck and smell like piss.

So give me a little background on All Over.
All Over is a music blog I've been running for almost 2 years. It began because I had a lot of great music, that I wanted to share. The name comes from a ticket for entry on a ferry and it said all ovehand it began as all oveh but I ended up changing it to all over.
Seems like it has turned into quite a big deal. You agree?
Ha, well it's certainly grown more than I expected.  Hits were pretty low up until about 8 months ago and then things grew from there.  I get about 2,000 hits a month, 14,000+ to date.
Designed by Zach James Allott

With that many followers, does it seem to get kinda hard to pull away from blogging? I mean, does blogging ever make you NOT DO YOUR WORK? (cough.)
I average about one post a day and the way I have it structured it doesnt take that much time to do a post so it doesnt take up a ton of time...its just a healthy distraction.

Yea, kinda a big deal. What kinda music are you posting these days?
I'm posting alternative rock, indie, electro, dance, and dubstep.

Well the website looks pretty different than most blogspot blogs you see. Did you design everything by yourself?
I did. I used a blogspot template and then from there I tweaked everything.  It's probably what I spend the most time on is the design aspect.

Do you plan on using your popularity at all in order to make some cash in the blogosphere?  Or are you just a soul blogger?
Well, I incorporated ads to gain some sort of revenue but I never saw much return, and it made the site look wack.  So I toook em down.  So yes.  I am a soul blogger...sharing my music.

Good for you. Well, keep it up.  I know I follow the blog because I love all your music, and I have and will continue to refer all my friends to your blog to experience some SOUL BLOGGING. Music style.
I love you. Bye.
Us.

Well, that's about it for this interview.  Oh FYI, this whole interview was done via Facebook chat.  Who needs to talk face to face these days....that's so 1990s.

Tiny Wings Mentality

I'm not really sure about how I lived without my iPhone.  My phone has kept me more organized than ever for just over a year now.  But the iPhone has also caused large amounts of procrastination time with the seemingly never-ending app store.  The App Store is filled with tons of games, tools, puzzles, and more.  Although most free apps are used and deleted after being beat on my phone, the apps that I buy always seem to stick around, not only because I bought them and don't want to waste them, but they are usually always entertaining.

Usually I become very fond of a single app and then a couple weeks later, I pick a new one to be obsessed with.  Yes, I pick favorites all the time.  Recently, my favorite and most entertaining app has been Tiny Wings.  At a price of $.99 on the App Store, Tiny Wings is probably one of the most entertaining games out there.  Personally, Tiny Wings has made skiing so much more entertaining.

The whole idea behind Tiny Wings is that you use the hills in the game to catch air and fly.  You can make yourself heavier to get more momentum and land faster to catch the next hill perfectly to catch even more air and get more points.  You travel from island to island jumping from hill to hill, racing day light.  When night time comes, it's game over, and your score is recorded to compete against yourself.  You can complete different objectives to add multipliers to your "nest" to help increase your high score.  An example of one of those objectives is to make it to island 5 while holding your iPhone upside down.

Over break I played this game every day in the car on the way to the mountains and in the gondola as much as I could.  As I was going down the hill, I was constantly looking for jumps and landings to catch perfectly like a "rhythm section".  This turned into a inside joke with all my friends as we would always claim "tiny wings" runs through the jump section and just went flying off the sides of the jumps looking for new landings.

Tiny Wings is always a good way to waste some time in the gondola and on chair lifts and makes your skiing/snowboarding experience much more entertaining if you think of you day in "tiny wings" perspective.

Yachting. A Magazine to Fit a Lifestyle

ChuckPaine.com

Yachting Magazine is for everything Yachting ranging from personal stories to new technologies for navigation, safety, and communications.

The cover pages for all Yachting Magazine issues immediately triggers both the limbic and the neocortex parts of the brain.  The pictures on the front of the magazine immediately draws your attention with thoughts of "ohhhh what a pretty boat".  After catching your attention you start reading the cover (neocortex) to find out all the exciting reads you can have within the magazine.

Although I'm sure a majority of Yachting Magazine readers are much like me, and aren't capable of owning multi million dollar yacht, it's always entertaining to look through the magazine when you're bored in the store to see some very impressive vessels and new boating technology.

Personally, my favorite part of Yachting Magazine would be the pictures of the large yachts in action.  Growing up on Cape Cod, Massachusetts I'm no stranger with boating, so seeing some of these pictures is actually entertaining and fascinating.

Magazines have been, and still are a timeless source of entertainment.  No matter what your interest, there is most likely a magazine for you.  All you have to do is go out and find that magazine! And I encourage you to do so! Give yourself a different source of entertainment!

This video can be found on the Yachting magazine website and consists of a tour of a yacht in the bahamas.

Although I do enjoy my Yachting Magazine here and there, I would probably say that Power Yachting Magazine can be more interesting.  Most people don't really understand the difference between these two magazines, and every answer is pretty debatable. However, Power yachting is exactly what it sounds like; very large boats, thats go really fast....for their size at least.  I like the power version of Yachting magazine because the yachts that are shown and talked about are more suited for fishing, which personally interests me more.

After going on their website, I found an article on this mega yacht and HAD to show every picture of this beautiful vessel.

Both of these magazines make the brain go crazy.  If someone is capable to look through these magazines and not every think of wanting what they see, there is something wrong with them.

Hey Zach how's it goin bud?
Hello! Things are going pretty well.

Let's get some background information.
Umm, My name is Zachary James Allott, I'm 19 years old. born in 1992, raised in the Adirondacks of Upstate New York. I dabble in the realm of snowboarding. I grew up snowboarding at Whiteface and a little local hill called Otis Mountain. I started competing when I was 12, and qualified for nationals a few times. Although I'm more focused on just "Having Fun."

What have you been up to lately? Anything special?
Well I've been riding a lot, most recently filming this weekend with some friends and competing in the Gatorade Free Flow tour at Killington the weekend before that.

Gatorade Free Flow? Impressive. How was that?
Well it started off with a rough night and an early morning, followed by being 20 minutes late by registration. In addition I ended up forgetting my helmet and having my bindings mounted backwards...sweet. I wasn't all that focused on doing well since it was my first contest of the season, I just wanted to get into the groove. Just getting to finals was a goal.

And did you make it to finals?
I sure did! I surprised myself with a fairly solid run, speed was hard to get, so merely putting together a run set me up pretty well for getting to finals.

That's good to hear. Not bad for the first competition this season.  Any other competitions in mind?
I don't have any big ones in mind at this point, If there happens to be a few smaller ones I might sign up. I'm not focusing on competing this year as much as I have in the past.

Seems like your mainly focused on filming this year?
Yeah I think so!

Sounds good. Who are you filming with this season?
I'm filming a part with a group out of New York called Otis Creative, and also with a close group of friends in a webisode series called Gypsy Magik.

Wuddup Blogosphere

High Vibes Ep.1 from George Watts on Vimeo.

Hey Guys!  I'm Austin from Cape Cod, MA. More specifically Osterville, MA.  I'm a Marketing major at Champlain college in Burlington Vermont.  A fun media experience I had over my break was watching the movie The Fighter and it was quite entertaining.  One thing that I like about our technology now is how easy it is to stay in touch with some of my friends. Over break, my phone died and I needed to call one of my friends, I was able to go on facebook, get his cell number off his profile, and call him from a house phone. One thing that I dont like would be how some people rely too much on the internet interactions instead of face-to-face conversations and really hanging out with someone.  In my future, I see myself with a decent job that I really enjoy, where I'm also capable of skiing.

My best friend's first installment of our ski crew's webisodes called High Vibes.  Check out the facebook fan page here.
